Behind the Hair

Romantic Waves for Valentine's Day

Nothing抯 sexier than touchable, soft waves that look and smell amazing. Just in time for Valentine抯 Day, Butterfly Studio Salon founder Kattia Solano shows you how easy it is to achieve this beautiful date-ready style using Oribe products and hot rollers.

Watch the video above to see Kattia teach her client how to create these waves on her own and learn some great hair tips and tricks.

Get the look (more detailed instructions can be found in the video):
1. Wash hair with a lightweight yet moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (Kattia suggests Oribe Signature Shampoo and Conditioner).
2. Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse at the root and work towards the end. Use a comb to distribute evenly.
3. Rough dry the hair with your hands.
4. Create a side part and then separate hair into five sections with clips: top, sides (taken from 1 inch behind the ear) and two in the back.
5. Spray each section with Soft Lacquer, concentrating on the ends, then start rolling the hair in the following order: sides, top, back. Use two to three rollers in each section, depending on how much hair you have.
6. For the side with the part, roll the sections back; for the other side, which is heavier, roll the hair forward.
7. In the top section, make sure to overdirect the hair in front by pulling it straight out and rolling back toward the head to create body.
8. For the back, you抣l find it much easier to pull the hair out to the side and roll it in instead of trying to pull it up or back.
9. Once all rollers are in, let them cool and do makeup. Butterfly makeup artist Francesca Roman suggests keeping it natural, but giving lips and cheeks an extra pop of color.
10. Take rollers out and spray Dry Texturizing Spray on each curl for texture and to maintain shape.
11. Use a flat boar bristle brush to gently brush out curls.
12. Use Superfine Hair Spray where needed for hold.
13. Spray a little C魌e d'Azur for a sexy scent to carry you through your Valentine抯 Day date.
